Do you love talking about books and enjoying delicious beverages? Then this is the book club for you! Pints & Prose is a partnership between the Greece Public Library and Blue Barn Cidery. We meet monthly to discuss a book and enjoy some tasty pints.
This month's selection is The Tattooist of Auschwitz, by Heather Morris. In April 1942, Lale Sokolov, a Slovakian Jew, is forcibly transported to the concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When his captors discover that he speaks several languages, he is put to work as a Tätowierer (the German word for tattooist), tasked with permanently marking his fellow prisoners.
A vivid, harrowing, and ultimately hopeful re-creation of Lale Sokolov's experiences as the man who tattooed the arms of thousands of prisoners with what would become one of the most potent symbols of the Holocaust,
The Tattooist of Auschwitz is also a testament to the endurance of love and humanity under the darkest possible conditions.
Copies of the book will be available at the Check Out desk. This month's selection is also available in digital audio with no wait times through Hoopla.
This discussion will be conducted in Zoom. You must enter a valid e-mail to register. We will send you the link to join the discussion the day before. If you are planning to use a phone or tablet, please download the Zoom app before the event!
