Adult program.

Ever wonder what archival treasures are uncovered when people are doing their PhD research? What exactly is it LIKE having hands-on access to primary source documents?

U of R PhD student Rhianna Gordon will discuss her archival research on the topic of Rochester-area charitable societies in the 1800s.
Beginning in the early 1800s, Rochester -area residents formed local groups such as the Rochester Orphan Asylum (later the Hillside Children's Center), Rochester Association for the Relief of Homeless and Friendless Females (later the Rochester Friendly Home), Rochester Female Charitable Society, Jewish Children's Home, and Northaven, to care for those in need. Several of these are still active organizations, in some form.
